A SCANDINAVIAN CLASSIC IN HONG KONG
Founder Cecilie Koch Larsen leads Studio Amal with a design ethos inspired by her Danish background, creating spaces that are energetic, soulful and dynamic, yet grounded in nature.

Established in 2021, the studio has flourished in Hong Kong as a small but mighty business built on a deeply personal, research-driven approach.

The name itself is a synthesis of meaning, connecting the studio's geographical inspiration — drawn from Lamma Island — with the Urdu word for "hope." This intentional pairing reflects our commitment to grounding every project in its unique place, while aspiring to sustain cultural meaning and optimism.

EACH SPACE WE CREATE IS A DIALOGUE BETWEEN ITS ENVIRONMENT AND THE SOUL OF THOSE WHO INHABIT IT.
OUR WORK
Our portfolio spans borders, with residential and commercial projects across Hong Kong, Lamma Island, Thailand and Indonesia, as well as Europe, the UAE and Australia. Each space we create is a dialogue between its environment and the soul of those who inhabit it.
OUR ETHOS
We work slowly and personally. Every project begins with research — into the space, its light and the people who'll live in it — so the result feels considered rather than decorated. Rooted in Cecilie's Danish sensibility, our spaces are energetic, soulful and grounded in nature: refined, but made to be lived in.
